In the new role at Shop Direct, Hardcastle will be responsible for developing the Woolworth’s online business, including the new Woolworths website to be launched this summer.
Shop Direct, which operates the Littlewoods home shopping business, bought the Woolworths brand in February after the Woolworths chain went into administration.
Shop Direct Group chief executive Mark Newton-Jones said: “Matthew has a wealth of experience in the online and consumer space having spent over a decade in the industry. We are delighted he is joining the team and I look forward to working with him to deliver Woolworths online this summer.”
Hardcastle said: “I am really excited about being part of the Woolies revival. It is a much cherished British
brand and 700, 000 people have already registered at www.woolworths.co.uk. I am confident
customers are going to love the great products and offers on the new online site.”
